What is Emailconomy?

Emailconomy is the brainchild of Angel "Michaelangelo" Lopez. According to its website data, the Emailconomy website was created on the 1st of September, 2018 and is set to expire on the same date in 2019. Whether Mr. Lopez is going to renew the website and continue this program remain to be seen.

So what does Emailconomy offer and how does it work?

In a nutshell, Emailconomy is an email/direct mail marketing training program and affiliate marketing platform. Mr. Lopez promises that if you subscribe to Emailconomy and use it to reach prospective customers, you can earn unlimited commissions.

To join Emailconomy, all you need to do is type your name, phone number, and email on the website. Unlike other programs, however, Emailconomy will not take you to a members' area dashboard immediately. After typing in your name, phone number, and email address, you will be redirected to a PDF file that opens in the browser.

This PDF file contains another set of instructions for you to complete your membership application. The form already has your name, email address, and contact number on it. All you need to do is print it, write your address, and mail it to Emailconomy's office. (More on this later).

Emailconomy has a promotional video up on its website. It's on the home page, so it's pretty hard to miss. The video starts with the premise that the more emails you collect, the money will just flow. According to the narrator, "collecting emails is the fastest way to make money from home." (Not collecting gold bars or jewelry or kidnapping victims?)

The narrator calls this method "strategic email collecting, and it will make you rich." Just spend seven hours every week collecting and sending niche-targeted emails to earn more money.

After this intro, it will segue to the creator of Emailconomy, Angel "Michaelangelo" Lopez. In this video, he explains what Emailconomy is and how it works. He introduces himself as a preacher's kid. He claims that he has been working from home for many years and that he earns a six-figure income, all thanks to direct mail marketing.

He uses Groupon's business model as an example of a successful direct mail/email marketing strategy. According to the video, 56% of consumers visited a website or a brick-and-mortar store to buy an item, thanks to a promotional email they received.

59% loved getting promotional emails from brands they like. Further, 80% of consumers open promotional emails they receive. The data was taken from Small Business Trends.

After giving all this information, he makes it clear that the people he's targeting are baby boomers. Why baby boomers? Maybe because boomers have a reputation for being easily duped by any smooth-talking snake oil salesmen on the internet. Or maybe they have so much time and some disposable income on their hands it's easy to get them to sign up to any scheme on the internet.

He then discusses Emailconomy's subscription plans. Don't worry if you can't catch up as this file is available on the website too.

According to his Linkedin bio, Mr. Lopez also owns a website called Big Home Business. He is also affiliated with Florida-based entity called Talk Fusion. Emailconomy's "office" is located in Florida.

How Much Money Are Your Going to Make?

According to Emailconomy, Inner Circle Level affiliates can earn $200 from every personal sale. They can also earn $100 for every team sale.

Diamond Level affiliates can earn $400 from every personal sale. They can also earn $200 for every team sale.

Master Level affiliates can earn $1,000 from every personal sale. They can also earn $500 for every team sale.

But according to Emailconomy's earnings disclaimer, "there is no guarantee that you will earn any money using the techniques and ideas in these materials." Further, the figures presented on the website are merely income forecast and should not be interpreted as a "promise or guarantee of earnings."

Your earnings, according to Mr. Lopez, will depend on your experience, your skills, and the time you devote to the program.

Other Things You Should Know About Emailconomy

* It only accepts money orders or cashier's checks

Keep in mind that Mr. Lopez only prefers money orders or cashier's checks because they are less likely to bounce than your personal check. If you're planning on sending personal checks, then forget about it. Plus, you must use priority mail with a tracking code when you send your cashier's check or money order to him.

* Earning money with Emailconomy is so easy (allegedly)

According to its FAQ page, all you need to do to get your first commission is to mail the PDF registration form and check/money order. Upon receipt, Emailconomy will disburse your first commission, as well as upgrade your membership to a paid level.

You can then order your first-ever direct mail marketing campaign to get you started. For starters, you can order as few as 500 letters. Or if you want to reach many people as soon as possible, you can also order unlimited letters.

What I Don't Like About Emailconomy

Here are some of the things that I don't like about Emailconomy.

Mr. Lopez's shady reputation

Before sending out your membership form and payment to Mr. Lopez, keep in mind that he has a bad record with some people who had dealt with him in the past. In fact, there is a WordPress site dedicated especially for him and his alleged schemes.

So, what were the issues hurled against Mr. Lopez?

One of the most common accusations hurled to him by past associates is his tendency to taking their money and not delivering on his promises. You can read all about them here and here.

The use of money order and cashier's check

In a world where PayPal, Venmo, and other digital payments are ubiquitous, you have to wonder why Mr. Lopez insists on using cashier's checks and money orders. Understandably, he doesn't want to use personal checks as they might bounce when he cashes them in or he wants to cash the money out immediately as soon as he receives the cashier's check or money order.

This particular "opportunity" is geared toward boomers, so perhaps they are more comfortable with money orders/checks rather than QR codes and instant transfers. Some past associates have even speculated that Lopez's name is already blacklisted by online payment systems, that's why he is stuck with checks and money orders. Whatever the reason, the use of such outdated modes of payment doesn't bode well for prospective affiliates.

The promotional video didn't have style nor substance

In the promotional video, it is not clear what Mr. Lopez is offering. All that he talks about is how you can use direct mail marketing to earn instant and residual cash. Although some of his claims make sense, others, like how you can generate income through email/affiliate marketing, do not.

But targeting boomers is one of the most insidious aspects of Emailconomy. These are people who often have a lot of time and money on their hands, and are looking for ways to stretch that pension or just want to be busy even after retirement. But boomers are often targeted by scammers because they're not as internet savvy as Gen-Xers, millennials, and even Gen-Zers.

Is Emailconomy a Scam?

Yes, Emailcononomy is a scam. The membership fee is ridiculously expensive, while Mr. Lopez's reputation in dealing with money and clients is not exactly stellar.

The promotional video does not have substance at all, and he fails to explain what he offers exactly and how people can profit from it. All he wants his prospective subscribers to do is give him some money and trust that he will, indeed, deliver. But according to some complaints online, Mr. Lopez has a history of taking money from affiliates and leaving them hanging.

Until Mr. Lopez can prove that the accusations are false and he can turn his reputation around, I think it's not wise to invest in any of his ventures. So, do yourself a favor, and stay away from Emailconomy or any other "opportunities" offered by Mr. Lopez.
