Summary: Insight Global is an Atlanta-based staffing agency which caters to IT, accounting, finance, and government sectors. It connects applicants with prospective employers all over the country, as well as in Canada.

Its entry-level recruiters are typically fresh out of college. It is not a pyramid scheme or any type of scam, but employees have expressed dismay that the work hours are so long and the salary is lamentably low.

What is Insight Global?

Insight Global is a staffing agency based in Atlanta. Its main role is to connect individuals looking for jobs with employers who are looking to fill a vacant position. The agency provides staff to Fortune 1000 companies in the States, as well as in Canada. It was founded in 2001.

The agency offers all types of employment contract, from long-term to short-term to direct placement. It also offers enhanced staffing and direct placement services.

It primarily provides staffing solutions to the information technology sector. Apart from the IT sector, Insight Global also recruits staff for the government, aerospace, healthcare, telecom, engineering, and finance sectors to name a few.

Insight Global employs in-house headhunters who use the agency's own database to find the best candidates for the job. They also use sites such as Dice, Monster, and others to search for the perfect candidate.

Individuals who are already working for the company or who used to work for the company are prioritized when it comes to choosing the best candidate for the job.

If the recruiter still can't find the right candidate, then they'll turn to the job recruitment websites to look for the right professionals for the job.

According to the agency, candidates need to undergo a four-step screening process before they are hired. Only the names of shortlisted candidates are submitted to the employer for consideration. All Insight Global employees are required by the company to undergo a complete background check.

If you're interested in working at Insight Global itself, you'll need to start as an entry-level recruiter. Candidates are required to have a Bachelor's degree with preference given to those who majored in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, and Economics. All employees are promoted from within.

Is Insight Global A Pyramid Scheme?

No, Insight Global is not a pyramid scheme. To better understand why this is so, let's take a look at what a pyramid scheme is.

In a pyramid scheme, people have to pay in order to become a member. They are also promised compensation just for recruiting others.

Companies that use pyramid scheme as a business model don't have a product. Some have product, but the quality is subpar. The process of recruiting new members goes on and on until the scheme collapses when the supply of money eventually dries up.

So what are the signs that something is a pyramid scheme and how did we determine that Insight Global is not a pyramid scheme?

First, you need to pay a so-called membership fee to be admitted into the group. By contrast, Insight Global does not require candidates (whether they are headhunted as entry-level recruits or as staff for other client companies) to pay a membership fee.

Neither are they encouraged to recruit others to become members. Insight Global is a legit staffing agency that connects candidates with employers.

A business that uses pyramid scheme as a business model also offers merchandise or services (if there are) that are of low quality and are therefore unsellable. Insight Global, on the other hand, does not have a product. Moreover, many people are also seem pleased with their service.

What Services Does Insight Global Offer?

Insight Global offers two types of services: staffing services and managed services.

The staffing services offered by Insight Global includes temporary staffing, temporary-to-hire, and direct hire. The agency's account managers and recruiters do all the legwork for this type of service.

Recruiters sift through hundreds of resume in the agency's database and conduct an initial phone screening of the candidate. The candidates' skills, experience, and education are all evaluated in order for them to qualify for the job.

Then there's the personal interview with the recruiter. When the candidates pass the initial personal interview, their references and prior work experience are then verified. The hiring manager conducts an additional screening, and the candidate is presented to the account manager after the evaluation.

The agency's main market is information technology, accounting, finance, engineering, and government sectors.

But Insight Global is not an ordinary staffing agency. It also offers managed services including training, business process outsourcing, software development and application services, and business analytics. The agency also provides portfolio management, enterprise support, engineering, infrastructure, and digital transformation services.

Apart from these two services, the agency also offers time tracking, payroll and benefits, and employment verification services.

What I Like About Insight Global

For Prospective Recruiters of Insight Global

* Great company culture

The majority of the employees (especially the recruitment team) of Insight Global claim that the agency has a great company culture. After-work drinks and company parties are normal. Because most of them belong to the same peer group, the majority get along pretty well and make a lot of friends. This environment makes the agency ideal for young people who recently graduated.

* Opportunity for growth

Entry-level recruiters are trained to prepare them for eventual promotion as account managers. Regular training sessions and company conferences are offered to employees. Entry-level employees also sit with managers periodically to evaluate their progress in their career, as well as determine how they can grow within the organization.

* High pay for account managers

According to Glassdoor, the average base salary for an Insight Global account manager can reach up to $43,000 per year. But it can increase when you factor in cash bonuses, stock bonuses, and commissions they'll receive. Salaries for entry-level recruiters, however, are lower so that can be a bummer for some.

For Job Applicants

* Some Insight Global recruiters truly care about the candidates they handle

There are a lot of recruiters who view candidates as nothing more than a source of income, but Insight Global recruiters seem to be different. Their screening process is efficient, and they really have a proven track record of getting their candidates hired.

Some recruiters would go the extra mile by following up with the candidates multiple times just to keep them in the loop. They also provide details about the job, as well as what candidates should expect with the company once hired.

What I Don't Like About Insight Global

For Prospective Recruiters

* The workplace can be toxic

It's a good thing if you're working with people of the same age group. You watch the same TV shows, talk about memes you saw on social media, and party like every day's Friday.

But some Insight Global employees have noted that some of their co-workers are immature and catty, and have described the workplace as toxic and full of drama. If you're applying as an entry-level recruiter for Insight Global, be ready to adjust and deal with rude and toxic people.

* Loooong work hours

With Insight Global, doing a good job is about hitting the target and working long hours. Your day will start at 7:30 in the morning and end at 5 or thereabouts. So if you're looking for a job that offers a perfect work-life balance, then this is not it.

Because of the low pay and the overly long work hours, the company is said to have a high turnover rate. Some people are also forced to go to conferences during the weekends or pressured to go out for drinks with co-workers after their shift.

For Job Applicants

* Positions are mostly temp or contract

There is some feedback that most of the jobs are only temp or contract. This is not for you if you're looking for a more permanent set up.

* Recruiters sometimes omit vital information from candidates

Insight Global's recruiters are great for the most part, but there are instances when they omitted vital information from the candidates. Whether they are deliberate or not, it certainly made a bad impression on the person they hired.

Is Insight Global A Scam?

But is Insight Global a scam? The answer is no, this staffing agency is not a scam. It is a legitimate company that provides staffing solutions to different companies in the United States and in Canada.

The reviews on this company have been largely positive, but there have been complaints about their hiring practices. The company hires recent college graduates as entry-level recruiters with promises of high pay and opportunities for growth. The pay, however, is considered inadequate by many entry-level recruiters so many feel duped.

A number of former and current employees also vented that managers promote more attractive team members to higher positions and bypass those who are deemed to be less attractive.

Insight Global's work hours are overly long -- you'll be putting in as much as 10 hours of work every day. If you're looking for a job that offers work-life balance, then you're better off looking somewhere else.

Another thing to consider is the cliquey environment that seems to persist in the company's workplace. Some employees have described the office environment as toxic.

They have also likened the workplace as something akin to a sorority or frat house. If you're the type of person who despises cliques and such, it's best to avoid Insight Global.

Is Insight Global worth it? Well, if you're fresh out of college, really want to work as a recruiter, and don't mind the low pay or the long hours, then yes, Insight Global is worth it.

It is also great for job applicants who want to work in IT, engineering, finance, and government sectors, but couldn't seem to find the right opportunities.
