What is Referral Pay?

If you consider yourself a social media "influencer" and you're looking for new ways to earn money, then this review is for you. If you're not an influencer but still want to learn about this platform, then read on.

For those who have been living under a rock for the past few years, an influencer is an individual who uses social media extensively to influence their audience's buying decisions through their knowledge about the products, their authority, or their popularity. Influencers typically have a considerable following in a specific niche.

The majority of influencers are celebrities, while others are thought leaders. Some industry experts and bloggers who have a sizable following are also bloggers and micro-influencers.

Referral Pay (also known as Viral Dollars and Viral Pay) is an influencer network where you can earn money simply by signing up and by referring your friends to the platform.

This platform first appeared in 2015 and was developed by a tech company called Zindex. The platform, according to its website, now has 225,000 members. It has paid up to $60 million to its users and has 500 million shares all over social media.

According to the website, the platform's office is located in Melbourne, Australia.

How Does it Work?

Simply register as a member of the Referral Pay website to join its network of influencers. After the registration process, you can now earn with Referral Pay.

Add your preferred payment method to set up your account. You can use PayPal, Cash App, or Bitcoin. You can even have your payment sent by check via mail if you prefer. Once your payment method is verified, you can now go back to your account overview in the dashboard.

You'll see your unique referral link in the overview section of the dashboard. This is the link that you're going to share on your Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram so you can earn some extra cash. You'll earn $2 for every follower or website visitor who clicks this link. An additional $10 is added to your account if those followers sign up with Referral Pay.

Another way to earn with Referral Pay is to download some apps. You can earn as much as $30 when you complete this particular task. But be wary as the introduction to the tasks are in Chinese characters, and it takes you to a third-party website once you click on the 'Earn' button. Some tasks want you to simply enter your email or your phone number, but again, be wary with giving away your contact information.

Another way you can get paid is by creating promotional posts and sharing them on your blog and social media pages. You'll be presented with different promotional photos with images of supposedly rich kids showing off their cars or their lavish houses. (The funny thing no one knows if these individuals truly own these objects or they just happened to pass by a parked Ferrari and posed in front of the car to show off to their friends.) Just download the image, and share them on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram.

YouTube submissions are another way to earn some money from Referral Pay. Create your video promoting Referral Pay and explain how it works to earn additional cash. Upload it on YouTube, and submit the link to the platform so you can earn $50.

Referral Pay already has a prepared video title and description on the website. All you have to do is submit the video link and just wait for your money.

Still want to earn more? Then head over to the Rewards Center to be rewarded for working with Referral Pay. According to the website, you can earn 1 Referral Pay coin for every $1 you earn with the platform. You can save these coins up and exchange them for different prizes. Some of the prizes include Apple AirPods, Apple iPad Mini, and other Apple devices.

The problem is you need to accumulate a minimum of 5,000 points if you want to get the Apple AirPods and you need 40,000 points if you want the Apple Macbook Air. It's going to be a long time before you can accumulate these points.

How Much to Join Referral Pay?

Joining Referral Pay is 100% free. But keep in mind that you must be at least 13 years of age to join the platform.

To register, simply go to the Referral Pay website and sign up. You'll sign up with your name, email, username, and password to get started. You can add the payment method later.

How Much Are You Going to Make?

According to Referral Pay, the amount you're going to earn will depend on the time and effort you spend on promoting the website. There is a page on the website where some of the payment proofs are posted.

One has earned $245, while another boasted that they earned $360 which was the amount they needed to pay one month's worth of rent.

Another person, on the other hand, earned $650 for one payout. The problem is no one can verify if these screenshots are real or digitally altered just to dupe the gullible.

But if you want to know how much you're going to get, then don't worry. Referral Pay has developed an earnings calculator which you can check here.

You can check how much you're going to earn simply by typing the number of followers you have on your social media page. Let's say you have 2,000 followers.

You'll earn $455 each day if everyone clicked your link and signed up with Referral Pay. Keep in mind, however, that this is just an estimate, and figures may vary depending on other factors.

Other Things You Need to Know About Referral Pay

Maybe you're curious about where Referral Pay gets the money it pays to its members. Well, the money Referral Pay uses as incentives to its users are generated from sponsorship products and ad revenues. The more people you invite to Referral Pay, the higher the traffic. This, in turn, increases the platform's revenue.

If you're thinking about using fake clicks and making multiple accounts for fake referrals to increase your incentives, then forget about it. Referral Pay has explicitly stated in the platform's Terms and Conditions that any fraudulent activities will not be tolerated. Your account will be terminated. Plus, you need to refund the amount credited to you if payment has already been made by Referral Pay.

Keep in mind that any points that have not redeemed for two years will immediately expire. But you can also request for your points to be re-credited by contacting Referral Pay. Re-crediting, however, is subject to the platform's terms and conditions.

What I Don't Like About Referral Pay

Redirects you to third-party websites

One of the most disappointing things about Referral Pay is its Download Apps task. The first thing you're going to notice on the Task Wall is the titles that are in Chinese characters. The incentives are high (as much as $30 per task), which can be suspicious if you're discerning. The tasks are relatively easy. Simply enter your email or phone number to get a $30 incentive.

But what irks me is that it redirects you to a third-party website. If your computer has antivirus software installed, then it's going to flag the problem immediately. (See example screenshot below). Don't do these tasks to make sure that your data is safe.

 Conflicting information

If you're going to check its Terms and Conditions, you're going to see this section.

In this section, it says that its office is located in the US. Further, its IP address is also located in California. But when you check its contact information, it says that its office is located in Melbourne, Australia. Something doesn't add up. Could this platform's admins get their story straight?

There's no way to verify payment proof posted on the website. Yes, the website has proofs of payment, but there's no way anyone can verify if these are real or digitally altered.

It's a pyramid scheme

Anyone can join this platform so apparently, it's not exclusive to influencers. If anyone can join, then no one's really an influencer.

It doesn't have any products that affiliates can sell, and it only relies on traffic that is driven by referrals so it can pay its members. Testimonials are fake because these are something users need to do to get paid. Moreover, the platform used to be named Viral Pay and Viral Dollars before the abrupt name change to Referral Pay. That sudden and multiple name changes are suspicious.

In my opinion, Referral Pay is nothing but a hybrid GPT site/pyramid scheme masquerading as an influencer platform.

Is Referral Pay a Scam?

So, is Referral Pay a scam?

Unfortunately, yes, Referral Pay is a scam.

It has changed its name twice from Viral Pay and Viral Dollars, and that alone should raise some red flags. It redirects you to suspicious third-party websites, it has conflicting information about its office, and there's no way you can verify the payment proofs posted on the website.

This is just a pyramid scheme cleverly dressed up as a get-paid-to website and influencer platform with a beautiful website.

Do yourself a favor and stay away from this website. There are better ways out there to earn a little money.
