What Is Vantel Pearls?

The story of Vantel Pearls began in Hawaii during the mid-1980s. Owner Joan Cabral was on a holiday in Hawaii when she decided to purchase a pearl oyster as a gift to her niece. The gift was a hit when she came back to the US mainland. The oyster had a surprise pearl inside and her niece loved it, so much so that Joan realized that it would be great if others experienced the joy of shucking an oyster to find a shiny pearl inside. Thus Vantel Pearls was conceived.
Ms. Cabral opened her first two stores in Cape Cod and Martha's Vineyard in 1985. After a few years, she invited a few of her friends and acquaintances to a home party where she showcased her pearl oysters. That one home party breathed new life into Vantel pearls and paved the way for the integration of network marketing into its business model. Today, Vantel Pearls has thousands of consultants all over the country who also hold similar home parties to showcase Vantel Pearls.
The company offers necklaces, bracelets, rings, earrings, keychains, and other jewelry. Genuine freshwater cultured pearls, however, are still Vantel Pearls main products. According to the company, the pearls are cultivated by Japanese and Pacific farmers following strict environmental standards.
The pearls are available in different colors. There's a white cream, peach, and gold for those who want something traditional. If you want something more unconventional, you can always get lavender and pink; blue and silver; and peacock black.
One of the main selling points of these pearls is the meaning attached to each color. For example, white, according to Vantel Pearls, is the color of wisdom, clarity, and purity. If you want to exude success, elegance, and warmth, you can try wearing cream-colored pearls. Peach, on the other hand, symbolizes health, balance, and longevity.
There are specially designed jewelry from Vantel Pearls if you want something unique. These pearls are specially dyed to make sure that they will stand out. Plus, all jewelry are handcrafted with care.
Vantel Pearls main office is located in Mansfield, Massachusetts. It is a member of the Direct Selling Association, and is a BBB-accredited organization. All pearls sold by Vantel Pearls are imported from Japan and South Pacific.
Is Vantel Pearls a Pyramid Scheme?
No, Vantel Pearls is not a pyramid scheme. Pyramid (and Ponzi) schemes collapse within months after their inception simply because they run out of members to recruit or the authorities were quick to take action and managed to bring the schemes to an end. It is very rare for a schemes to last for many years (one glaring exception, of course, is Bernie Madoff's notorious Ponzi scheme).
Vantel Pearls has been around since the late 1980s, and it has grown ever since. It also has a wide selection of products its customers can purchase and consultants can resell. The income of Vantel Pearls' consultants are based on sales, and not on the number of people they recruit.
Success is Rare at Vantel Pearls
Vantel Pearls' longevity in the industry, however, doesn't mean that success comes easily for its consultants. Why? Because its business model is multi-level marketing or MLM. A lot of people have indeed earned a lot from selling products manufactured by companies that use MLM as a business model, but they are an exception rather than the norm.
When you look at the commission structure of multi-level marketing, you'll see that the majority of resellers belong to the bottom of the tier.
The people at the top receives the bulk of commissions and bonuses from the organization, while the consultants at the bottom receive only a small slice of the pie. This will only change when you climb the ranks to become one of the top consultants for Vantel Pearls.
But when it comes to MLM, the chances of you climbing the ranks is slim. The majority of people who join MLMs are likely to give up within the first year due to a host of different reasons. So, you see, success is truly rare in this kind of venture.

What I Like About Vantel Pearls
Here are some of the things I like with Vantel Pearls.
Hosting party is effective
Everyone loves good surprises, so it's not surprising that pearl hosting parties are an extremely effective way to get people excited about Vantel Pearls. It's a bit gimmicky, but it's a novel idea that no other MLM company could pull off. Besides who doesn't love shucking those pearl oysters to find a classic white pearl or even an exotic black pearl?
Legit MLM
The good news is Vantel Pearls is completely legit. It has been around for more than 30 years, and I don't think it's going away anytime soon thanks to ladies who love jewelry and pearls, in particular.
What I Don't Like About Vantel Pearls

But, of course, a review is incomplete if we can't look at an opportunity objectively. Here are some of the things I didn't like with Vantel Pearls.
Pearls are not for everyone
Pearls are beautiful, shiny little things that look good especially when you wear that little black dress or even your favorite office attire. Pearls can also be a great gift for your grandma or any friend or family member who likes that classic look. But pearls are not for everyone, and it might be hard to sell them to ladies who like precious gems or more modern pieces of jewelry.
Plus, the jewelry sold by Vantel Pearls are a bit on the pricey side, so you will only have a few customers once the novelty of the oyster-shucking party wears off. Sales from Vantel Pearls will definitely not be your bread and butter.
Pearls make poor investment
Many people buy jewelry as an investment. Jewelry can be pawned or sold when times are tough. But the problem is pearls are difficult to sell or pawn because unlike gold or diamond, they are not easy to appraise.
Its MLM business model
MLM can be lucrative for the right person. If you don't have experience or talent in selling, then MLM is not the right opportunity for you. You will only waste your money and time, and gain so little in return.
Is Vantel Pearls A Scam?

The good news? Vantel Pearls is not a scam. While other jewelry sellers have a brick-and-mortar store, Vantel Pearls has an MLM business model and relies heavily on its so-called consultants to promote and sell the merchandise. Plus, its pearl hosting party is an unconventional yet effective way to market the merchandise.
Pretty as they are, pieces of jewelry are some of the items that are difficult to sell. Unlike nutritional supplements or skincare products which you can sell to men and women alike, pieces of jewelry are sold almost exclusively to women (kudos to men who like their bling). So, the market is pretty limited for Vantel Pearls consultants.
Vantel Pearls currently has a BBB rating of B thanks to multiple complaints from customers. Delivery issues are some of the most common customer complaints (although the consultant who shipped the item to the customer is usually at fault here and not the company itself). Other issues include poor product quality, as well as billing and collection.
So, is Vantel Pearls a worthwhile investment? If you're the type of person who loves jewelry (pearls in particular) and you believe you can make it work. But if you're only in it for the money and you don't know one thing about pearls except that they come from oysters, then maybe there's another opportunity for you out there.
