If so this review is for you.
Below you'll find everything you need to know about this company including background information, price to join, compensation plan, product overview and more.
You'll know if Pink Zebra is right for you by the time you're done reading.
Let's get into it!
Pink Zebra Summary
Company: Pink Zebra
Price to join: $129 to $199
Do I recommend? No!
Summary: Pink Zebra is a MLM that is geared more towards women - they sell trinkets, candles, sparkles and other products like that.
I personally don't recommend you join this company because the odds of success are low. There's a few factors that make this true and the main ones are low commissions on sales and how hard recruiting is.
Because of this the majority of people that join Pink Zebra will lose money instead of make money.

Pink Zebra FAQ'S
1) What is Pink Zebra? Pink Zebra is a candle/trinket company founded by Tom and Kelly Gaines. Originally this company was founded in 1999 and they made candles for large companies like Bath and Body Works, Pier 1 and more
In 2010 they took the leap into the direct selling world and that's when Pink Zebra was born. 9 years is a pretty long time for a MLM to last and most don't make it past the 2 year mark.
2) How do you make money here? Like I said this company is a MLM and that stands for Multi-Level Marketing. With these companies you sign up for a fee to sell their products directly to customers for a commission.
Additionally, you get rewarded for recruiting and building a downline. This may sound like a good way to make money but it's EXTREMELY flawed which I'll explain in the next couple of sections.
3) Are there any red flags? I didn't see any lawsuits or anything like that. But after reading online and reading some people's stories about Pink Zebra, it seems like it's pretty difficult to make any sales.
4) Are there any similar companies? Scentsy.
Is Pink Zebra A Pyramid Scheme?
MLM's are hated by a lot of people and there's entire communities dedicated to talking trash about the industry and making fun of the people who join.
Because of this vitriol people get a little hysterical about MLM's and call all MLM's a pyramid scheme.
Now some MLM's are definitely a pyramid scheme but not all are.
I personally don't think Pink Zebra is an outright pyramid scheme (which are illegal) but does have elements of one.
Look at the picture below to understand what I mean:
An illegal pyramid scheme would look entirely like the picture above and that happens when recruitment is the only way to make money.
While Pink Zebra does reward recruitment and you can make money building a downline, there's products at Pink Zebra.
Not only are there products, you can sell them without recruiting.
This is the key difference between an illegal pyramid scheme and a legitimate MLM. Most pyramid schemes don't last 9 years like Pink Zebra as well.
Success Is Rare Here
Here's a dirty little secret MLM'ers don't want you to know: 99% of people that join a MLM don't make money and instead LOSE money.
The people that do make money usually only make a couple hundred a month too. It's very, very, very, rare for someone to make a full time income with a MLM.
There's two main reasons for this:
- Products are too pricey/not big enough commissions
- Recruiting is extremely difficult
The products at Pink Zebra aren't expensive but are actually the opposite - they're too inexpensive. Because of this commissions are very low and it's going to be hard to make serious money through retail sales.
This means you'll have to turn to recruitment and this is an even bigger problem. Most people will not like you trying to get them into your downline and many people will even resent you for trying.
Below is a graph that goes over more eye opening MLM stats:
As you can see basically all MLM's are not worth joining and that includes Pink Zebra.
How Much To Join Pink Zebra?
In order to join Pink Zebra you have to buy one of their enrollment packs.
Here's the two options:
This kit costs $129 USD and $149 CAD.
This kit costs $199 USD and $219 CAD. This kit comes with more products and a bigger discount.
There's other costs to running a successful direct selling business as well. This can include stock to sell, buying booths at events, advertising, traveling and more.
These expenses can easily cost thousands.
Pink Zebra Compensation Plan
MLM's always have very complicated compensation plans and if you're new to the MLM world it'll be basically impossible to decipher.
If you want to read the entire thing for yourself, click here.
Below is a video presentation of the full plan as well:
I don't think it's too important to know every single detail of the plan and instead I'm going to summarize the most important parts:
At Pink Zebra there's different affiliate ranks you can reach and you go from one rank to another by hitting certain goals.
You also get bonuses for going from one rank to another.
There's 7 ranks and they are:
- Executive Consultant
- Executive Manager
- Executive Director
- Presidential Director
For example, in order to be a Consultant you need to have sales volume that equals $400 per month or more and personally sponsor at least 1 active Consultant.
To reach the Executive Consultant rank you have to have a sales volume of $400 per month or more and personally sponsor at least 3 active Consultants.
This goes on until you reach the Presidential Director rank and you have to generate $400 per month or more in personal sales, complete Executive Manager Training, sponsor 4 or more Managers, Generate $30,000 per month in GV (Group Volume) sales or more for 2 consecutive months.
Keep in mind most people won't get past the first rank.
Retail commissions is the part of the compensation plan that rewards sales directly to customers.
How much you can make per sale depends on your sales volume and is summed up with the chart below:
So if you sell $899 and under you get 25% commissions, $900 to $1999 will get you 30% and $2000+ will get you 35%.
Residual commissions is the part of the plan that rewards the sales of your downline and looks like the following:
How much you make depends on your rank (the higher the rank you are the larger the percentage you get and the more levels you can earn from) and the amount your downline sells.
There's smaller bonuses in the compensation plan as well like the Sponsoring Bonus and more.
If you want to know the ins and outs of each smaller bonus watch the video up top or read the entire compensation plan for yourself.
Pink Zebra Products
I'm not really into the products at Pink Zebra but I'm also not the target audience.
The products here are more geared towards women and the products in general are very feminine.
There's jar sprinkles, scents, candles, soaks, cards, and more - everything on the website is bright pink.
I personally can't tell you how good these products are or anything like that because again I'm not the type of person who buys this stuff.
From what I read online, though, is people are having a tough time making any significant sales.
The reason for this is you want a product that you can sell monthly to the same people and that's not really going to be case with Pink Zebra's products.
How many candles will a person buy in a year? How many fragrances or jars of sprinkles will one person want?
Because there's a lack of recurring sales you'll need to buy booths at events and flea markets and that can really add up.
So while Pink Zebra may have good products and some may even be pretty popular, they're not the best products if you're looking to make significant money.
What I Like About Pink Zebra
Even though I don't recommend this company to join there's still a few things to Iike including:
- Been around awhile: 9 years may not seem like a lot of time for a business to be running but its for a MLM - most don't last more than 2 years. This shows good leadership and decent retail sales.
- A lot of products: A common problem I see with MLM's is they offer one main product and a couple other filler products. Pink Zebra has a large selection of products which might help when trying to sell to someone.
What I Don't Like About Pink Zebra
At the end of the day there's more not to like here than to like and the main things I dislike are:
- Small commissions: While the commission rate is decent at 25% to 35%, the products cost like $10 to $15. This means you'll be making $3 to $6 per sale which isn't a lot.
- Low success rate: MLM's in general are very hard to succeed with and Pink Zebra is the same. Most people that join will not make any money and most will actually lose money instead.
- Bothering friends and family: Because the success rate is so low people tend to get desperate and try to sell to friends family. This is a good way to damage close relationships.
Is Pink Zebra A Scam?
Like I mentioned before some people hate MLM's and get hysterical about throwing the scam word around or pyramid scheme word around.
I've reviewed hundreds of MLM's and businesses and know what a real scam is - there's some truly despicable businesses and people out there.
Do I think you should join Pink Zebra? No.
Do I think this is a good business opportunity for most people? No.
But that's different than a scam. There's real products here and a compensation plan that explains how you make money.
It's going to be extremely hard to turn a profit which is why I don't recommend you join but that doesn't make Pink Zebra a scam.
