Touchstone Crystal Summary

Company: Touchstone Crystal

Price to join: $139 to $299

Rating: 30/100

Do I recommend? No!

Summary: Touchstone Crystal is a Multi-Level Marketing that involves throwing parties and trying to sell jewelry - most likely to friends and family.

Here's the thing, though: Touchstone Crystal recommends that you throw a jewelry party every week to make $840 a month (twice a week if you want to make $1400 a month).

Do you really want to bother your friends and family every week to come to a party to sell things?

I'm guessing not. There's really just not enough of an opportunity here for me to recommend it to you.

Touchstone Crystal FAQ'S

1) What is Touchstone Crystal? Touchstone Crystal is a company under the Swarovski umbrella. Swarovski is a very popular and high end jewelry company that most people are familiar with (they've been in business for nearly 130 years).

Touchstone Crystal launched in 2009 as a way for regular people to sell their products as distributors.

2) How do you make money with this company? Touchstone Crystal is a basic MLM company which means you sign up to sell their products and earn a commission.

They recommend throwing parties and inviting friends to make a sale.

Because this is a MLM company you also get rewarded for recruiting and building a downline.

This may sound good on paper and the person trying to recruit you may make it sound awesome but it's a tough way to make money which I'll explain in the upcoming sections.

3) Are there any red flags? Not really. I couldn't find any lawsuits or anything like that. However, the party method doesn't work that well anymore and this is especially true when you have to throw one once a week.

4) Are there any similar products? There's many MLM's like this one including Stella and Dot, Vantel Pearls and more.

Is Touchstone Crystal A Pyramid Scheme?

Pyramid schemes are illegal in every part of the world and despite what a lot of people think not all MLM's are pyramid schemes.

Some definitely are but some just have some elements of one and aren't straight up pyramid schemes.

To understand what I mean look at the picture below:

Up top is what a legitimate pyramid scheme looks like and that happens when recruiting is the only way to make money.

This happens when there's no actual product or service offered or there's no separating the product from recruitment.

Touchstone not only has real products but they have very well known products. Everyone knows Swarovski.

Additionally, you can sell their products without recruiting. Plus you only get paid on people you directly recruit so there's really not much of a pyramid shape going on here.

So, no, Touchstone Crystal is not a pyramid scheme.

Success Is Hard With MLM's

The last section I said Touchstone wasn't a pyramid scheme. It is, however, a bad business opportunity for most people.

MLM's are extremely hard to succeed with and most people that join one will end up losing. In fact, many studies show that 99% of people that join a MLM will end up losing money.

It's just a tough way to make money and only a certain type of person succeeds in these types of schemes.

This is true with Touchstone.

The way you make money here is by throwing parties. It's estimated that if you throw two parties a week you'll make around $1400 a month.

Not life changing but not if you're just looking for a little extra money it's not bad.

But do you really think you can throw two parties a week to sell jewellery. Do you think you'll still have friends if you are trying to get them over to sell them stuff constantly.

Maybe a party or two but after that people are going to get annoyed.

This will naturally lead you to try and recruit people instead and you're just going to have the same problem.

You need a lot of people under you to make money with recruiting and I'm guessing there's just not enough people in your life to make any significant money this way.

Below is some more eye opening stats that have to do with MLM's:

As you can see the MLM business model is a terrible one. You'll not only want to avoid Touchstone Crystal but all MLM's.

How Much To Join?

Joining Touchstone comes down to buying a starter kit.

There's two options:

  1. Basic Kit ($139)
  2. Enhanced Kit ($299)

You get more products and training materials if you pay more.

There's more costs involved in running a direct selling business that you should factor in as well.

This includes any money you spend on gas, food/drinks for your parties and any other expense you put out.

Combined this can cost several hundred to several thousands.

Touchstone Crystal Compensation Plan

MLM compensation plans are usually very complicated and have charts and jargon and are a just a pain to decipher.

The good news is Touchstone is very, very easy to understand and there's nothing really complicated about it.

There's two ways to make money and they are:

Retail Sales

Every sale you make will earn you 25% to 40%.

Recruitment

You earn 9% on all sales of the people you directly recruit. Unlike other MLM's you don't make money from people that your recruits recruit.

Here's a chart that Touchstone offers that shows how much you can make depending on the amount of parties you throw and how many recruits you have:

So to make $2,996 a month you'd have to have 2 parties a week and have 3 recruits that also throw parties every week.

This is going to be very difficult to do. Not only is finding three people that want to spend a couple hundred to join Touchstone going to be hard, finding tree people that are going to want to throw parties every week is going to be almost impossible.

I know they say it's possible to make over $10,000 a month here but that's going to be very, vey, difficult.

Touchstone Crystal Products

My problem with Touchstone is that it's just tough to make money but it doesn't have to do with their products.

I'm not the target audience for their products but from what I see everything looks like it's high quality.

The products offered by this company includes:

  • Bridal products
  • Necklaces
  • Earrings
  • Bracelets
  • Rings

and more. They have products that are under $50, under $100 but many of their products are $100+.

I don't, however, think Touchstone has the quality that Swarovski has despite being a company owned by Swarovski.

I'm pretty sure Touchstone is cheaper quality.

What I Like About Touchstone

Although I don't recommend you join this company there's still some things I like including:

  • Well known brand: Touchstone may not sell the high end jewelry that Swarovski does but it is owned by the company. This can definitely be a selling point because everyone knows Swarovski.
  • Pretty cheap to join: $139 is a fair price when it comes to joining a MLM (others can cost thousands and have other costs that will be hundreds a month).

What I Don't Like About Touchstone

There's more here not to like than to like and the main things I dislike are:

  • Low success rate: MLM's are very difficult to succeed with and that'll be the case here. In order to make $1400 per month you'd have to throw two parties a week which is unrealistic for just about everyone.
  • Party model is dying: When there was a couple MLM's doing the party model it could have worked. Now people are wise to them are probably not going to be interested in going to a party where you sell them stuff.
  • Bothering friends and family: At the end of the day, who are you going to try and sell to? Are your friends and family going to appreciate you selling to them twice a week? Definitely not and MLM's have strained relationships in the past.

Is Touchstone Crystal A Scam?

Definitely not.

This company is owned by a very legitimate company that's been around for 130 years.

Additionally there's real products here and a compensation plan that describes what you have to do to make money.

Do I think it'll be easy? No way.

Do some people make it work? A very, very small minority.

You'll have to recruit like hell and throw a lot of parties to make anything significant here. This means finding new people to come and throwing several parties a week.

Because of this I think Touchstone Crystal is a bad business opportunity (just not a scam) and you should avoid it.

Here's A Better Opportunity

Hopefully by now you've decided Touchstone Crystal is not right for you.

However, there's still plenty of ways to make money from home and online.
