Start and Scale is an eCommerce course by Greta Van Riel. On the sales page there's a lot of promises and if you're here you're probably wondering if it's worth it or not.
This review will answer that.
Below you'll find everything you need to know about this course including background information, price to join, course overview and more.
You'll know if Start and Scale is right for you by the time you're done reading.
Start And Scale Summary
Product: Start and Scale
Price to join: $547
Do I recommend? No!
Summary: Start and Scale is an ecommerce course from Gretta Van Riel and there's a lot of hype here. The problem here is the price tag (and long wait).
For $547 you can get courses that offer 10 times the value and will increase your odds of success.
At the end of the day there's just not enough course material here to adequately teach you eCommerce and there's not enough training on traffic generation.
There's for sure better options out there.

Dropshipping Isn't My Favorite Way To Make Money
Is life all about having fun? No.
But what you do to make money should have be enjoyable and be somewhat fulfilling (there's plenty of ways to make money online that will do just that).
eCommerce and dropshipping isn't one of those ways.
I've made money online in every way imaginable way and eCommerce is my least favorite.
The reason for this is dropshipping usually involves selling cheap Chinese stuff and marking the price up.
These products are usually gag products and don't really help anyone.
The work is pretty joyless and it's actually really stressful.
I make money with affiliate marketing and it's really hands off. You don't have to deal with products, shipping, customer complaints or anything like that.
eCommerce is the opposite. With eCommerce you have to create ads, have a pretty large ad budget (you'll need thousands), you have to deal with taking payments, shipping, returns, customer service and more.
It's not as glamorous as Gretta and other eCommerce gurus try to make it seem.
Who Is Gretta?
Gretta Van Riel is a young entrepreneur from Australia and she has some pretty awesome accomplishments so far in her life.
Her expertise is in social media and she's created many different brands/start ups.
She also has an influencer platform called Hey Influencers.
It seems a little weird to me that Gretta released a dropshipping course because her expertise isn't in this area. Up until this point she had started her own brands.
This kind of shows in the training. The training on branding is good because that's where she stars.
But when it comes to the nuts and bolts of eCommerce Start and Scale is lacking.
It kind of just seems like she's hopping onto the dropshipping boom to make more money.
Start And Scale Overview
Start and Scale offers fairly broad and general training and overall there's 38 videos.
There's eCommerce courses out there that are literally 5 times as long and cost half as much.
Also, there's nothing really new you'll learn in the training either.
Here's an overview of each module:
Module 1: Find Your Niche
A niche is the market you're going to be selling products in and this module is all about finding the right niche.
This section is very basic and there's nothing cutting edge here. You could easily find this information on Youtube by just searching "dropshipping niche idea."
You'll also learn how to build audience profiles to see if your niche will end up being profitable.
Module 2: Million Dollar Branding
Gretta is an elite level brander and if there's one module that expresses her expertise it's this one.
There's different ideas on how branding works in the eCommerce world.
Some believe you should strictly test products and then build your brand around winning products.
Others believe you build the brand first and that will attract customers.
I think both ways work and I'm more of a find a product and then brand around it guy.
This module teaches the second way. Again, though, it really just depends on where you want to take your store.
Module 3: From Idea To Inventory
The dropshipping model that's most popular right now is to get products from Aliexpress and remarket them on your own store (increasing the price in the meantime).
This course goes a different route and teaches you how to find suppliers outside of Aliexpress.
You're still taught to find suppliers in China but you're also taught how to find suppliers in America as well.
In this module you'll also learn how to negotiate prices, place orders and how to deal with packaging and shipping.
Module 4: Build An Audience Of Buyers
This section is about finding people that are going to want to buy your product.
One tactic being taught is to make a waiting list to build up curiosity about what you're selling
Obviously Gretta uses this strategy herself because you have to go on a waiting list to get Start and Scale.
I personally don't like this tactic unless there's a valid reason for it (like you want to limit how many people get access to a product to keep it quality high).
Module 5: Launch Your Store To Sales
This module builds off the last module and gives you more tips on launching your store.
You'll also learn how to take payments, set up customer service and other tips that make running your store easier.
Module 6: How To Scale Your Store
When you find success the next step is to scale your store and that's what this module will teach you.
This is the section you learn about Facebook ads and is probably the most disappointing module.
Traffic is how you make money and unless you can drive traffic to your products you'll lose money.
The ad training here is very basic and only goes over Facebook. There's so many other ways to get traffic it's pretty embarrassing that only Facebook is mentioned.
You'll 100% need another course on traffic generation if you plan on getting into eCommerce.
If you get Start and Scale you also receive the following bonuses:
- Private Mastermind Group: Masterminds are important for success an it's where you and others help each other achieve. This group is a private Facebook page where you can share ideas and get help from other students.
- $40 Million A Year Influencer Marketing Secrets: This is a simple interview between Nik Mirkovic and Alex Tomic over how to build a brand.
- Facebook And Instagram Ads Training: This is a smaller course on Facebook ads and Instagram ads.
- Copy And Paste Templates: These are scripts that you can use to contact influencers and other scripts you can use for your business.
- Business Partner Joins Free: This is a license that allows other partners to access the course.
I've reviewed all the top ecommerce courses
After looking at the top ecommerce courses, I've come the conclusion are either overpriced or low quality.
However, there's one course that's extremely affordable and is well made. To see it, click below:
What I Like About Start And Scale
Here's the main things I like about this course:
Gretta is successful
Many people that sell online courses are fake it until you make it types. They rent out cars and big houses to make it seem like they're successful but really aren't.
Gretta is clearly successful, though and does really well on social media.
It's clear she's a millionaire (although eCommerce isn't how she made her money).
Don't try to make money alone.
You don't need a partner but you need to be in a community where you can get help. Trust me on this one.
You can solve problems a lot faster if you have access to people that can answer your questions instead of trying to solve them all on your own.
At Start and Scale you get access to a Facebook group where you can get help.
To me there's more to not like here than to like and the main things I dislike are:
There are HUNDREDS of eCommerce and dropshipping courses out there and many are much better than his one.
You can also find an eCommerce course that offers more value and costs half as much.
Training is lacking
eCommerce has grown in the last couple of years and if you want to succeed you're going to need a lot of different strategies
This training is just so basic and it's not going to teach you anything new.
There's courses with hundreds of videos that go over every single aspect of dropshipping and that's not going to happen here.
Waiting list is annoying
There's really no reason to have a waiting list for a digital course unless it's apart of some larger marketing tactic.
This to me is kind of annoying and superficial. Most people that want to build an online business want to go right away, not jump through a bunch of stupid hoops.
Final Thoughts About Start And Scale
Gretta Van Riel is clearly a good brander and overall a very successful person.
I don't think you want to get your eCommerce training from her.She made her money in different ways and it's clear from the training that she isn't an expert dropshipper.
There's a lot of money in selling eCommerce courses and people are literally making millions from it.
I think this is just a case of someone hopping onto the train to make money.
Add that to the fact the course is so expensive, it's a pain in the ass just to be able to buy the course and there's limited training on traffic generation and you just have an average course.
There's many options out there to learn from so don't settle for this one!
Here's A Better Opportunity
There's way better courses out there besides Start and Scale.
Ecommerce Millionaire Mastery is a good course but costs too much.
There's plenty of awesome, high quality dropship training that cost 1/10th the cost of this one.
The very best training is Ecom Elites.
Ecom Elites is only $197 and has the best training I have ever seen.
