Sector Focus is a stock picking service brought to you by Chris Rowe.. you can find it over at his website True Market Insiders.

He claims he can help you successfully manage your investments and wants to help you make better investing decisions.

Is this true or just one big scams?

Well you're in luck..

I review these kind of products for a living and know exactly what to look for to answer that question.

Below you'll see everything you need to know about Sector Focus including background information, price to join and more.

All your questions will be answered by the time you're done reading.

Sector Focus Summary

Creator: Chris Rowe

Price to join: $79 per year

Do I recommend? No.

   Overall rating: 2/5

I personally don't think you should buy Sector Focus.

This newsletter may be inexpensive but it's used to upsell you more expensive products after you buy.

The stock picks don't seem to perform that well either and Chris worked for a horrible company for several years.

Everything You Need To Know About Chris Rowe

This Isn't His First Newsletter Business

One thing that is verifiable is Chris has been in the stock picking newsletter business for a long time.

Chris, along with Dylan Jovine, created Tycoon Publishing in 2004.

This was one of the bigger stock picking newsletters at the time and they sold a bunch of different services.

Eventually it was bought by Agora in 2011 (we'll talk about Agora in the next section).

Chris Worked For One Of The Industries Worst

Agora is the biggest distributor of investing newsletters and overall is just a terrible company.

They are known to sell fraudulent financial and health products.

They've gotten in trouble in the past and recently had to pay millions in fines for defrauding elderly people:

After Agora bought Tycoon, Chris worked for them for numerous years.

The worst part about Agora is their horrible marketing methods.

They will try anything to make a sale and they make so much money million dollar fines don't deter them.

Even after getting in trouble with the FTC, they continue to use deceptive marketing:

It's definitely a bad sign Chris worked for Agora.

Going through some of his marketing material it's clear he's learned their sales process and uses it.

How Does Sector Focus Work?

Sector Focus is the name of the flagship investing newsletter at True Market Insiders.

This service gives you at least 10 stock ideas to invest in every month.

However, there's a specific strategy being used.

Chris claims using the Dow and The S&P 500 is a bad way to judge the market.

He claims broad indexes are "inaccurate reads of the whole market."

Because 50 stocks make up half the weight of the S&P 500, it can't really tell you how the market is doing as a whole.

Sector Focus' strategy is to look into more narrow sectors and then invest once they find a good one.

For example, energy would be an example of a sector.

However, Chris couldn't just invest in "energy."

He would find sub sectors within the sector.. gas, solar, battery, wind, etc. would be an example of a sub sector.

Chris then narrows it even more to find companies or ETF's that's hot within that sub sector.

Once he does that he sends you the recommendation to invest in.

Here's a graph from the True Market Insiders' website that sums it up:

The big risk is if the sector goes south you won't have anything to prevent you losing money.

If you invest in the S&P you'll be more protected if a specific sector starts cooling off.

Sector Focus FAQ's

You might still have some questions about this newsletter.

Here's answers to any remaining questions you might have:

1) How Much Does Sector Focus Cost?

Sector Focus is $79 per year which isn't bad.

This is just an introductory product and basically all newsletter distributors offer a service in this range.

However, you have to remember that Chris spent many years working at Agora.

Agora is a ruthless company that looks to milk their customers for all they can get out of them.

Chris clearly learned about sales funnels at Agora because he does the same thing.

There's 10 products at True Market Insiders and they all vary on price and what they offer.

Some of them will cost thousands per year.

The point of offering a cheap product is so a company can sell you a more expensive one later.

Once you buy Sector Focus you will be constantly promoted other services.

It annoys some customers:

Don't think about upgrading until Sector Focus delivers good results.

2) Is There A Refund Policy?

Yes, there's a pretty decent refund policy.

You get 30 days to get your money back and it's a no questions asked refund.

This won't really give you enough time to test the stock picks or anything like that.

However, it'll give you enough time to see if you like the way the service works and things like that.

3) How Much Should I Have To Invest

When you sign up you're going to have a portfolio of stocks and investments that you can make right away.

Additionally, you'll be getting at least 10 more investment ideas every single month.

To invest in every pick for the entire year would require tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands.

You likely won't be investing in every pick, though.

I'd say $10,000 to start off with is a good number.

Also, you'll probably want at least $1000 for every new investment you make.

4) Is Chris Rowe Legit?

I think the jury is still out to be honest.

Many people turn to investing newsletters because they ruined their reputation on Wall Street.

Many people that work for Agora are literally banned from the investing world or have worked for companies that were banned.

And Chris worked at Agora for many years.

5) What Is Sector Focus' Performance Like?

I don't have access to every stock Chris has recommended.. to his credit he does make a lot of picks per month.

However, after reading through some customer reviews I don't think the stock picks are that good.

Here's what one customer had to say about them:

Pola isn't the only one claiming to lose money from Sector Focus' stock picks.

Here's another person claiming every sector Chris recommends ends up tanking:

At the end of the day you can forgive Chris for making up details about his past or hiding unsavory information with an alias if he can pick good stocks.

However, it doesn't seem like Chris can do that.

6) Are There Any Similar Products?

There's many similar newsletters.

Some include:

A lot of these actually come from Agora as well.

Sector Focus Pros And Cons

Pros
  • Affordable: The newsletter is inexpensive at $79 per year.. however, it is just the start of a marketing funnel.
Cons
  • Agora influence: Chris worked for Agora for years after they bought his newsletter. That is not a good thing.
  • Bad performance: All customer reviews I've read seem disappointed in the stock picking performance of Chris Rowe.
  • Aggressive upsells: Another thing customers hate is the constant promotions and upsells.

Sector Focus Conclusion

You can take the man out of Agora but you can't take Agora out of the man!

True Market Insiders is your typical investment newsletter company.

They lure you in with a cheap offer like Sector Focus and then try to get you to buy more expensive products down the road.

You'll be aggressively pressured to upgrade to other services that cost thousands of dollars.

It's a science at this point.

These companies know exactly how to get the most out of each customer.

At the end of the day Sector Focus doesn't seem to perform well either.

Because of this you can skip over this newsletter.

Here's A Better Opportunity

I'd pass on Sector Focus.. there's just too much baggage to deal with.

The good news is there's still a lot of good places to get stock picks.
