Sector Alpha is an investing service run by Andrew Zatlin.

He claims he can help you find the hottest sectors to invest in every month.

Is Zatlin telling the truth, or is this all one big scam?

We'll answer this question in this review.

Additionally, we'll look at any red flags that I find and give you an overview of what to expect if you buy.

You'll know if Sector Alpha is worth it by the time you're done reading.

Let's get started!

Sector Alpha Summary

Creator: Andrew Zatlin

Price to join: $149

Do I recommend? Sort of

   Overall rating: 2/5

Sector Alpha is a typical investing newsletter and seems to be under the umbrella of MarketWise (not a good thing).

This newsletter does all the things I hate about investing newsletters.

Has overdramatic sales presentations, overhypes returns, and will bombard you with expensive upsells after you buy.

This is a new newsletter, but it doesn't seem to be performing well yet.

You can pass on this one.

Another MarketWise Newsletter

Before we get into what Sector Alpha is, there's something you need to know about this newsletter.

This is another MarketWise product.

MarketWise is a publicly traded company that formed a couple years ago.

This company is run by very predatory people, and most of the publishers under MarketWise aren't very good.

It's important you know this is a MarketWise newsletter because they all function the same way.

They sell their service by putting out manipulative sales presentations and overhyping how well an investment can do.

For example, Andrew ran one of these sales presentations where he claimed one of his investment ideas could get 26,000% returns:

The odds of this happening are about zero percent.

But making promises like this will get people to buy, and that's all MarketWise and people like Andrew care about.

Almost every service from MarketWise trails the market, and many just straight-up lose money.

So if you can, avoid buying from them.

What Is The Investment Strategy?

Like the name suggests, this newsletter focuses on sectors instead of individual stocks.

So once a month, you'll get a report on the top four sectors, and then you'll get four recommended ETFs to trade in.

However, you will still get individual stock recommendations as well.

For example, back in November 2022, Andrew recommended Altria as a way to beat inflation.

More recently, Andrew has claimed he knows a stock that will benefit from the FedNow program being rolled out by the Federal Reserve.

That's the stock he claims will make more than 26,000% returns.

What Is FedNow And FedCoin?

All MarketWise newsletters pick a theme when they run their sales presentations.

Andrew's current theme with Sector Alpha is that the entire banking system is being reworked by the Federal Reserve, and this will lead to the destruction of physical money.

FedNow is a program by the Federal Reserve to reduce transaction times on bank deposits.

Up until now, it would take a few days for a check to clear, and you didn't have access to your funds right away.

Starting in July 2023 and over the next few years, this delay in transaction times is going to be phased out.

Soon, depositors will have instant access to their funds.

Andrew claims this is going to be the end of physical money in America and that the Federal Reserve will be introducing a digital currency called FedCoin.

Andrwe is basically trying to scare potential customers into buying his newsletter.

Maybe a digital currency will happen one day, but FedNow isn't connected to a digital currency.

So don't fall for the sales presentation and buy this newsletter out of fear.

What Is Being Offered By Sector Alpha?

This is your typical investing newsletter, and there are a million other services that function in the same exact way.

Here's a breakdown of everything that you get:

Full-Year Access to Sector Alpha

This is the main selling point of the newsletter.

Every single month, you'll get a new newsletter with advice on what sectors to invest in.

In these newsletters, you'll get ETF and stock advice.

Additionally, you'll get updates on the market as a whole.

Model Portfolio

This is another main selling point of this newsletter.

Once you sign up, you'll get access to all the stocks that Andrew recommends, and you'll get buy prices on the stocks.

Special Reports

The special reports act like sweeteners.

I mentioned in the last section that the current special report for this newsletter is the FedNow special report.

This is a report that supposedly helps you invest in the future digital economy.

Sector Alpha FAQ's

Still have some questions about this newsletter?

Here are the answers to any remaining questions you might have.

1) How much does Sector Alpha cost?

This newsletter costs $149 for the first year and then $199 for every year after.

Remember, though, that you're dealing with MarketWise, whose goal is to squeeze every dollar they can out of you.

When you buy Sector Alpha, you're put into a very aggressive marketing funnel.

In this funnel, you'll be pitched products that cost thousands of dollars.

These products will be from Andrew and other publishers.

2) Is there a refund policy?

Yes, there's a 30-day refund policy to get your money back.

Again, though, remember that you're dealing with MarketWise.

They only offer refunds on their cheap products.

All their services, which cost thousands of dollars, don't come with a money-back guarantee.

This is a trick they like to pull, and I'm sure many subscribers have bought expensive newsletters thinking they'd be able to get their money back.

3) How are customer reviews?

This is a new newsletter, so there aren't too many customer reviews out there.

At Stock Gumshoe, seven people have voted on this newsletter, and so far it has a 2.1/5 rating.

So it's not off to a good start.

But this is completely what I'd expect.

Like I said, these newsletters promise the stars and the moon and almost never deliver.

It rubs people the wrong way.

4) Are there similar newsletters?

Yes, there's many newsletters just like this one.

Some include:

As you can see there's no shortage of people wanting to sell you stock picks.

Sector Alpha Pros And Cons

Pros
  • Not too expensive: The sole good thing about this newsletter is it's not too expensive.
Cons
  • Bad performance: This newsletter is off to a bad start and customers don't seem happy.
  • MarketWise: MarketWise owns this newsletter and they're not people you want to buy from.
  • Overhyped: There's about a zero percent chance any investment from Andrew gains 26,000% despite what he says.

Wrapping Things Up

So that's the end of my review of Sector Alpha.

This newsletter is just like 100 other investing newsletters from MarketWise.

You get the crazy sales presentations offering ridiculous returns, the aggressive sales funnel, and more.

In the end, all that matters about a newsletter is if it can beat the market.

If it can't beat the market, it's worthless.

And the customer ratings make me positive that this newsletter doesn't actually beat the market.

In fact, I'm not sure any MarketWise newsletter really does.

The good news is that there are a few newsletters out there that actually beat the market.
